Breathe+ Plans

Due to the rising cost of insurance and the limitations on what is covered, at Breathe Modern Dentistry, we developed a way for those without insurance or who are paying high premiums to have another option.

The Breathe+ plan offers 3 levels of coverage to meet your individual needs!  From simple plans designed for those needing only routine cleanings twice a year to plans for those that need multiple crowns or even implants.

Even better because that means even more savings for you!

The best way to get more information is to call our office and talk to any of our team members for more information!  Once you have your New Patient Exam, we will be able to advise you on the best plan to fit your future needs.

Absolutely, we have several financing plans available.

Controlled Arch Orthodontics

Controlled Arch braces works well for teens, but it’s also suitable for adults who didn’t get orthodontics as teens, are unhappy with their orthodontic results, or saw their results lapse.option.

Controlled Arch Orthodontics works WITH the natural function and direction of facial development. That means we work with the body instead of fighting it. And with a few more additions to the orthodontic system, we control tooth movement more precisely. This keeps unwanted rebound of teeth movements from occurring in unwanted areas. Those two benefits can make a drastic difference in the time it takes to correct crowding!

Controlled Arch Orthodontics is based on the understanding that it’s partly the action of muscles in the mouth that stimulate the growth and movement of the teeth and jaws. We know that crowded teeth are related at least in part to our softer diet, which means we don’t chew as much as our ancestors did (early humans spent about half their waking hours chewing). Therefore, Controlled Arch Orthodontics are designed to emulate the natural forces of the tongue, cheek, and jaw muscles. This creates a more efficient movement path and one that is designed not just to move the teeth, but to stimulate the development of other tissues around the teeth.

Crooked, crowded teeth aren’t just a cosmetic problem. They relate to the function of your mouth and jaw. That’s why crooked teeth are often linked to temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ). Your jaw also controls the size and shape of your airway. By expanding the jaw, we can reshape the airway, making it easier to breathe at night, which can reduce the severity of sleep apnea.

When a patient needs a jaw discrepancy corrected and surgery is discussed, they often need more than just orthodontics to correct the problem.  Though Controlled Arch Orthodontics can help correct minor/moderate jaw discrepancies, more help may be needed. But that’s okay! That’s when Developmental Orthodontics becomes the key! With Developmental Orthopedic Appliances and Controlled Arch Orthodontics together, MOST people can avoid surgery and have the problem corrected more naturally!

Clear aligner therapy can only tip or slightly rotate relatively straight teeth, think small cosmetic movements. As for our Controlled Arch  Orthodontics, we are able to bodily move teeth and get them into their best position for long term stability, root, and all! This approach is used to help correct the bite as well. Just because teeth are straight, doesn’t mean they are in a healthy position for long term function and health!

You are never too old for Controlled Arch Orthodontics! This system works great from teenagers to older adults! Results are still achieved, no matter what age we’re working with!

Developmental Orthodontics

The “orthodontics” themselves don’t normally cost much more than traditional orthodontics, but if developmental therapy is needed to correct the deficiencies prior to braces, there will be an additional investment. But compared to doing braces twice as many have done because of relapse, you’ll save quite a bit!

There is a high chance you are still a candidate for our developmental orthodontics. Most patients that have had orthodontics before were trying to correct their crowding, which again is only one outcome of developmental deficiencies. Of course, we would like to see you to fully assess your wants and needs, but we can help you!

Generally speaking, our orthodontics will feel relatively the same as traditional methods. Our approach to treatment is different, but that does not mean you should feel major differences.

Implants

In most cases, people are able to go back to work as soon as the procedure is completed. In fact, most patients do not even need to take Ibuprofen after the procedure, it is that smooth. If a tooth is being removed prior to the implant being placed, the discomfort will be greater since a tooth was removed.

We normally need 3-4 months after the implant is placed to heal and be bonded within the jaw. Once the implant has completely merged with the jaw, we can restore the implant with a restoration or (tooth).  Until then, the implant normally remains buried around the gumline.

The procedure should take about 30-45 minutes from the time you are seated to the time you are ready to leave. Most patients don’t utilize sedation but feel free to ask about options.  We will ensure you are completely numb, and the procedure itself isn’t very exciting. When it comes to procedures, that’s the way you want it.

You are able to go back to normal as soon as the implant is placed. We do want you to be careful when brushing and eating for the next 2 weeks, but we will go further into detail before your implant placement appointment. If you had a tooth removed at the same time, your downtime will likely be longer, 2-3 days is common.

After a tooth is removed, the jaw begins to get smaller in volume around that area every year. The answer to that question is therefore related to time.  The longer you wait, the less support we have for an implant, and once enough is lost, grafts and other invasive procedures may be necessary. A quick 3D x-ray is all that is needed to determine whether you still have enough bone in the area of the missing tooth to place an implant back!

Generally, it will take 3 or 4 appointments to have the implant and tooth completely finished. One appointment to get to know you and discuss where the implant will go. The second is to place the implant. It normally then takes 1 or 2 more quick appointments to take impressions and then to seat your implant crown.

We are able to restore many implants that have been placed in other offices. Please give us a call so we can have you in and evaluate the type and size of implant you had placed. It always helps if you can call the office that placed it and request the implant details for your implant. The restoring doctor will need these details to order the right components for your implant!

TMJ

The TMJ is a highly specialized joint that sits just in front of your ears.  It actually connects your lower jaw bone to your skull.  Any dysfunction or pain in this joint is referred to as TMD or temporomandibular disorder.

Popping in a joint indicates that there is a problem with the relationship of the jaw joint and your skull.  Even though there isn’t any pain at this time, there is still damage to the joint occurring.  Some patients will even experience all popping going away only to return later and be much worse or more painful.   There are also other symptoms you may not realize are related to your joint:  frequent headaches/migraines, ear ringing, vertigo, ear pain or fullness, chipped teeth, soreness in the muscles of your head/neck or jaw as well as difficulty opening your mouth wide and having your jaw gets locked closed or open.

At one point surgery was the most common way to resolve the problem.  However, most discovered that it didn’t truly provide a long term solution.  It takes specialized training for a dentist to learn the techniques necessary to resolve the pain associated with TMD, luckily the dentists at Breathe Modern Dentistry have pursued specialized training giving them many ways to help.

For the majority of TMJ patients, treatment starts with a special orthotic (splint) designed to realign the joints with the base of the cranium.  This first step will begin the healing process and it’s where you will see your symptoms begin to improve.  Some patients will only require orthotics.  Most of the time we will recommend following the orthotic with Functional Orthodontics to align the teeth so that they support a healthy joint.  The true cause of most joint problems is a misalignment of the top and bottom jaw, actually locking the joint in a position that causes damage.  At RMD we believe that the ideal treatment for TMD ultimately ends with braces.  When we only use the orthotic to resolve the symptoms, the patient ends dependent on that splint.  If it becomes lost or broken and pain returns, the treatment will have to start back at step 1.
